There are some people in life

They never ask your name
They never hold your hand
They do not know your birthday
They may not even know you exist

But somehow you find yourself hiding in their voice on your hardest days

There was someone like that in my life

Maybe she never knew me
Maybe she will never read these words
But without knowing it she touched my life

I do not know how to explain this

From the outside it may seem strange
But the heart cannot explain everything with reason

There were nights when I was so tired
There were things I could not tell anyone
There were times when I had no shoulder to lean on

And in those moments there was a voice

She did not tell me it would pass
She did not tell me not to feel that way

She just sang

And sometimes a song can heal you more than a thousand words

Sometimes I talked to her photo
I told her everything
I told her about everything I had been carrying inside

She never answered

But somehow even her silence made me feel better

Maybe she never heard me
But I felt heard

Sometimes she came into my dreams

It felt like we were sitting around a table
I was talking
She was just listening

When I woke up I knew it had only been a dream

But the peace she left behind was real

Sometimes you can find a home in the voice of someone you have never even met

I did too

That is why these words are not just a thank you

They are a way of saying I will always remember

Because some people can become a light in the darkest days of your life without ever knowing it

In my life that light had a name
